Planning and Development

Before suggesting a solution to a customer, AirMedia conducts a proper initial evaluation and planning exercise that will save time and money - preventing lost productivity, poor network performance, and dissatisfied users. For example high-quality and fast movement video files that are inherently large can cause serious network congestion problems if not managed correctly.

Throughout the process of planning and development AirMedia believes in having client interactions to establish clear objectives and expectations of role-players such as client internal stake-holders e.g. Marketing, Finance, Operations & Development, HR, etc.

The planning and development service AirMedia uses traditionally includes three phases, namely;

  • Site Assessment,
  • Recommendations & Costing
  • Roll- Out & Project Management

Site Assesment

AirMedia provides a turn-key solution to clients and considers the proper assessment of a number of key items as the basis for providing you with a recommendation and costing that suit the specific brief and objectives. Factors that are included in this initial site assessment phase are:

  • Number of sites
  • Geographical spread of sites (across Southern Africa)
  • Requirements per site (radio, TV screens etc)
  • Client budget considerations
  • Network requirements including bandwidth (A thorough understanding of the network and bandwidth required is one of the critical components to a successful digital TV screen network and radio deployment.)
  • Client implementation date requirements and timeframe (all at once or phased in)
  • A full site survey can be conducted as an added service (to determine physical equipment requirements)
  • On-site environment

Recommendations & Costing

After the site-assessment phase has been completed AirMedia develops and presents the client with a detailed proposal. The proposal will typically include:

  • Summary of the client’s requirements as defined through the assessment phase
  • Recommended technical solution (what type of technology would work best for the client)
  • Service quotation (radio/digital screens / TV/value added services recommended)
  • A roll-out and implementation schedule, including project phases, responsible parties, etc
  • Equipment and infrastructure recommendations - specification of on-site play-out equipment (e.g. Amplifier, speakers, microphone, TV etc);
  • A document that sets out e.g. service levels, processes between parties, maintenance, payment details, etc

After the proposal meeting and when agreement has been reached with the client, we enter into an Agreement with the client before embarking on the roll-out.

Roll-Out & Project Management

At its own cost AirMedia provides and installs all equipment needed for successful broadcasting to each and every site. (Receiving antennas, decoders and cabling, amplifiers and speakers, TV-if ordered, form part of on-site equipment).

Our project managers will manage the total roll-out from start to finish and recommend the best delivery method for your budget and infrastructure.

  • Management of the roll-out and installation
  • Procurement of e.g. satellite capacity / bandwidth for delivery
  • Provide terrestrial transmission equipment to relay signal
  • Procurement and customisation of reception equipment at sites
  • Customisation of play-out equipment to meet clients specific needs
  • Provision and integration of client-specific option at AirMedia

AirMedia has a countrywide network of approved installers and technicians that know what is required to conform to the highest standards and processes to ensure the most cost effective and efficient roll-out. We also conduct roll-outs in Southern Africa (Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland and Botswana).
